Boston-based Eastern Bank has added Joseph T. Chung, William M. "Mo" Cowan and Bari A. Harlam to its board of directors. They will join the bank’s board at its April meeting.

"Eastern Bank is very pleased to add three talented and distinguished professionals to our board of directors," Richard E. Holbrook, bank chairman and CEO, said in a statement. "Their collective experience and diversity will further strengthen our board, leaving us well-positioned to better serve the people and businesses of New England."

Chung co-founded Redstar Ventures, an incubator focused on building companies by identifying significant trends and growing markets. Prior to Redstar, he was co-founder and chairman of Allurent and co-founder, chairman and CTO of Art Technology Group (ATG). Chung led the growth of ATG from a two-person consultancy to a publicly traded enterprise software company with more than 1,200 employees and annual revenues exceeding $160 million.

Cowan manages operations for ML Strategies, the government relations and strategic consulting affiliate of the law firm Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, where he practiced law from 1997 to 2009. He is also "of counsel" at the firm. Prior to rejoining Mintz Levin, Cowan represented Massachusetts as interim United States senator, filling the vacancy created when John Kerry was appointed secretary of state. Previously, he served as chief legal counsel and chief of staff to Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.

Harlam oversees all membership, marketing and analytics at BJ’s Wholesale Club. Prior to BJ’s, Harlam was chief marketing officer of Swipely, a technology startup. She also served as senior vice president of marketing at CVS Caremark, where she led the development and launch of the ExtraCare loyalty program. Her work has been published in a variety of journals, including Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research and the Journal of Business Research.
