Citizens Bank Foundation Awards $125K To Revitalize Dorchester, East Boston

Jerry Sargent, president of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens Massachusetts, today will award the first recipients of Growing Communities grants at events in Dorchester and East Boston.

East Boston Main Streets, Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corp., Urban Farming Institute and Sportsman’s Tennis and Enrichment Center will be awarded a total of $125,000 in grants from the Citizens Bank Foundation to fund programming aimed at revitalizing sections of the Dorchester and East Boston neighborhoods.

"We believe these grants will help enhance the overall well-being of East Boston and Dorchester, support small businesses and spur additional investments in these communities," Sargent said in a statement.

The Growing Communities initiative is designed to help revitalize neighborhoods by supporting their existing assets. Projects were selected based on a grant process announced in August.
