Local food pantries get a boost from banks in preparation for Thanksgiving; BankFive donates $5,000 for people with autism; and St. Francis House raises over $750,000 for its shelter in this week’s Community Good Works.

Customers of bankHometown and community members are invited to be a “Hometown Hero” for a $1 donation or a “Hometown Superhero” for a $5 donation to be matched dollar for dollar by the bank and split among local food pantries. To date, more than $117,500 has been distributed through the program.

 

BankFive

BankFive Foundation, a fund of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts, recently awarded $5,000 to Community Autism Resources Inc. (CAR) in Swansea. CAR offers comprehensive, holistic, evidence-based support to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), their families and community members. Core services are designed to help individuals with ASD reach their fullest potential and to participate in educational and leadership programs.

 

Berkeley Investments

Berkeley Investments recently made a $25,000 donation to support Boston Parks and Recreation. The donation will go toward field improvements at The Ryan Playground.

 

Berkshire Bank

Berkshire Bank Foundation has awarded $483,382 in grants and pledges to 127 nonprofit organizations across its footprint during its third quarter grant cycle. The foundation has provided more than $1.5 million in grants in 2017.

 

Callahan Construction

Callahan Construction has launched a partnership with Italian Home for Children (IHC) to support the organization’s mission of helping children and families in need. Callahan will provide hands-on assistance to IHC by volunteering time and talent to upgrade IHC facilities.

 

Clinton Savings Bank

Clinton Savings Bank is working with Banzai, a free, national award-winning financial literacy program, to make the curriculum available to Clinton, Tahanto and West Boylston middle schools.

 

Dedham Institution for Savings

The Dedham Institution for Savings Foundation donated $25,000 to NeighborWorks of Southern Massachusetts. The money will help fund upgrades, rehabs and other capital improvements to the organization’s portfolio.

 

Main Street Bank

Main Street Bank is the main sponsor of The River’s Edge Arts Alliance’s 2018 Winter Concert and Performance Series in Hudson. The series will include jazz, flamenco and Irish music.

 

Naveo Credit Union

Naveo Credit Union employees dressed up in costumes on Tuesday, Oct. 31, and raised $500 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society during their Costumed for a Cure event. Naveo raised funds at its branches in less than a week and then matched those funds.

 

North Brookfield Savings Bank

North Brookfield Savings Bank donated $3,500 to local food pantry organizations to support those in need and to help fund the pantries’ operations. The bank also awarded a $100 gift certificate to Daniel Tassinari, a resident of Monson, for winning the bank’s hat contest for the month of September.

 

Rockland Trust

The South Eastern Economic Development Corporation (SEED) has received a $25,000 grant from Rockland Trust Community Development Corp. to provide financial counseling to small businesses in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The grant will enable SEED to continue providing financial counseling targeted to low and moderate income small business owners through workshops and individual sessions.

 

TD Bank

TD Bank will partner with local communities in New York, Florida and Boston to support veterans’ organization Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) until Nov. 10. As part of the company’s Bring Change initiative, over 180 TD Bank stores will open their doors and invite the public to participate in community fundraisers benefitting Team RWB.
