BayCoast Bank
Swansea-based BayCoast Bank pledged $250,000 to jump-start a capital campaign at New Bedford’s 500-student Global Learning Charter Public School. The school is trying to raise $8 million to renovate a historic, 18,132-square-foot building in new Bedford to house all its programs.
Cape Cod 5
Hyannis-based Cape Cod 5 awarded a $500 stipend each to six high school students as part of their awards for winning “honorable mention” awards in EVERFI’s Black History Month essay contest. Additionally, one local student was chosen as one of the top three national winners and will receive a $4,000 scholarship. The bank partnered with the financial education nonprofit in the contest, which asked participants to write an essay sharing how they plan to continue conversations about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion throughout the community.
MutualOne Bank
Framingham-based MutualOne Bank gave $5,000 to support Mass Audubon’s environmental literacy program in Framingham Public Schools.
South Shore Bank
Staff at Weymouth-based South Shore Bank supported the new Cardinal Cushing Centers MarketPlace in Hanover by going on a virtual shopping spree, purchasing items hand-crafted by Cushing’s art students at MarketPlace. MarketPlace provides more realistic employment training opportunities for the people with intellectual disabilities that Cushing supports.
