Boston Firefighters Credit Union

Boston Firefighters Credit Union CEO Bernie Winne and other executives took part in the Boston Fire Department Teen Academy, teaching teens at Boston’s White Stadium a crash course on financial literacy with a focus on the unique financial challenges facing young firefighters, police and EMTs.

Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union

Lowell-based Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union gave $2,021 to the Lawrence-based One Wish Project, which provides birthday parties, cakes and gifts for children of all ages living in foster care and homeless shelters, as part of its National Nonprofit Day Campaign.

Martha’s Vineyard Bank

Edgartown-based Martha’s Vineyard Bank announced its charitable giving for the first half of 2021 totaled $364,107 given to 95 nonprofits. Larger awards included funds used to purchase the Fisherman’s Preservation Trust’s new ice machine, housing opportunities for low income women at Harbor Homes, assisted the Island Autism Group towards their goal of a campus in West Tisbury, and continued funding for TestED, a program of COVID-19 testing in schools. Of these funds, $11,500 were distributed as Employee Directed Donations, a program that gives Martha’s Vineyard Bank Employees each $500 to direct to the non-profit of their choice on their behalf.

Mechanics Cooperative Bank 

Taunton-based Mechanics Cooperative Bank announced education scholarships have been given to 13 area students who excelled in academics, athletics and community service.

Monson Savings Bank

Monson Savings Bank gave $100,000 to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts’ $22 million capital campaign supporting the opening of a new headquarters.

The bank also gave $1,000 to the town of Monson’s Christmas lights display, to honor the work and long careers of town employees John Malo and John Morrell.

Rockland Trust Co.

Hannover-based Rockland Trust Co. Gave $10,000 to the Main South Community Development Corp. to support the nonprofit’s Community Investment Plan, which focuses on providing safe and quality affordable housing, economic opportunities, community building, engagement,and equity in health and education to Worcester’s Main South neighborhood.

Rollstone Bank & Trust

Leominster-based Rollstone Bank & Trust brought its “Checking for Charity” campaign to a close by presenting checks totaling more than $13,000 to a variety of local charities serving the Central Massachusetts region. The campaign is part of its 175th anniversary celebrations. The bank donated $25 to a local nonprofit for every checking account opened during the course of the campaign.

Shawmut Design and Construction

In the wake of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti on Saturday, Boston-based Shawmut Design and Construction gave $25,000 to relief efforts organize by Build Health International. The Beverly organization is a global health infrastructure nonprofit based that has been designing, constructing, and maintaining high-quality health infrastructure in Haiti, and around the world, for over a decade.

The company also announced its team has accumulated $1.77 million in Pan-Mass Challenge donations so far. The annual charity bicycle ride supports the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Simon Properties

National mall landlord Simon Properties organized donations of school supplies and treats to children at the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn and the Boys & Girls Club of Metro South. Items and school supplies were donated by mall retailers and restaurants.
