Consigli Construction is installing new heating and cooling systems at the Cambridge Housing Authority's 198-unit Burns Apartments.

A new division of Milford-based Consigli Construction Co. will pursue projects enhancing the energy efficiency of buildings including those in the commercial, academic and health care markets.

Kailash Viswanathan will lead Arch Energy, which will specialize in low-carbon building systems and energy retrofits. Previously, Viswanathan served as vice president of operations for GreenerU, a Waltham-based energy consultant for academic institutions.

Arch Energy’s services include energy system optimization, building automation systems, infrastructure, financing services, resiliency projects and Net Zero/WELL building strategies.

As part of the new division, Steven Burke has been promoted to Consigli’s director of sustainability. Burke is a certified passive house consultant who also is certified in LEED and WELL building standards.

“Consigli has more than 115 years of experience in helping our clients discover innovative and integrated solutions; this shift toward low-carbon infrastructure & building systems reflect the next evolution of our approach to stay ahead of market needs,” CEO Anthony Consigli said in a statement. The firm has recently performed energy efficiency projects for the Cambridge Housing Authority, Boston College, UMass-Amherst and General Electric.
