Waltham-based Vantage Builders Inc. has begun construction of the New England Sikh Study Circle’s (NESSC) place of worship at 168 Flanders Road in Westborough.
The 21,000-square-foot temple, known as a Gurduara Sahib, will become the principal place of worship for the New England Sikh community. It will include classrooms, meeting places, a community kitchen for up to 40 people, a library and a residence. Completion is estimated in the first quarter of 2015.
Currently based in Milford, NESSC purchased the 37-acre Westborough site in 2012. [Are they moving here entirely when it’s done? Or keeping the Milford place also? It’s a little unclear. 37 acres is huge, though, would think they’d be moving.]
The project team includes architects JG Assoc., AKAL Engineering Inc., Waterman Design Assoc. Inc. and Rivermoor Engineering.
