A new Phillips office in Andover has won the 2012 CoreNet Global New England Award of Excellence for the Best New Workplace.

Cresa Boston, led by Principal Dwight Patten, provided the program management services for the renovation of the 32,000-square-foot space at 200 Minuteman Road in Andover.

The award recognizes a corporate workplace, constructed within the last year, that makes efficient, innovative, and functional use of a company’s space layout, design, and technology to maximize its performance.

"We helped create an innovative workspace that promotes collaboration among employees," said Patten in a statement. "The sustainable, open workplace leverages technology and dynamic design to foster a high-performance environment."  Cresa’s services for the interior fit-up included relocation planning, vendor selection, program development, design and construction management, and budget, schedule, and move oversight.       

The space includes seven different "neighborhoods" with a "town square" in the center, which serves as a café and meeting room. To facilitate privacy and personal workspace for Philips’ 260 employees, small meeting rooms, copy areas, and enclosed work settings serve as borders for each neighborhood.

Philips’ own LED light fixtures, lamps, and controls were used for over 90 percent of the space’s lighting. The energy-efficient lighting mechanisms use 25 percent less electricity than code mandates for energy consumption per square foot.

Margulies Perruzzi Architects provided architectural services, and J. Calnan & Associates Inc. provided pre-construction and construction management services. Brickstone Properties is the owner of the building.
