One of Massachusetts’ first five CW Price retail stores has opened at Merrimac Plaza on Rte. 110 (Haverhill St.) in Methuen.

The new 25,750-square-foot retailer replaces long-time tenant A.J. Wright, a chain that was shut down by its parent company TJX Corp. last February.

CW Price, the new chain taking over many former A.J. Wright locations, advertises "fashion at the right price" for women, men and children. The store is part of a new division of Conway Stores Inc., a 70 year-old clothing retailer based in New York.

"I’m especially pleased that, despite the economy, we’ve been able to attract a new tenant and bring the shopping center to 100 percent occupancy," said Mark Dickinson, president of Dickinson Development Corp. of Quincy, which owns the plaza.

Gregg Lurie of Creative Realty Group in Miami, represented the tenant, CW Price. Dickinson represented the owners, Merrimac Income Partners LP. 

Other recent events at the plaza include the opening of Dr. Dental’s 20th location, DOTS clothing store’s and the new Wellness Center and renovations at Rite Aid.

Merrimac Plaza consists of 175,000 square feet. Other key tenants include Market Basket, Dollar Tree, Payless Shoes, Game Stop, Papa Gino’s, UPS, Bank of America, McDonald’s, Dunkin’ Donuts and Chef Co’s Restaurant.

In January, Dennis Metayer, club owner in the Merrimack Valley for more than 25 years, is opening the newest Choice Fitness club in 16,000 square feet, according to a statement.
