MBA logoMichael D. Berman, president and chief executive officer of CWCapital of Needham, has been elected the 2011 chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA).

He was sworn in at the 97th Annual Convention & Expo in Atlanta. As chairman, Berman’s top agenda item is for the MBA to continue to play its leadership role in redesigning the Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs), according to a statement.

"I look forward to working with MBA’s members, board of directors and its dedicated staff to ensure the association remains on the forefront of the major issues facing our industry today," said Berman. "MBA will continue to lead the battle to restructure GSEs with private capital and a new, clearly defined, but limited government role in guaranteeing mortgage-backed securities."
