Danversbank, a subsidiary of Danvers Bancorp, has chosen Guard Support of Massachusetts Inc. as the beneficiary of its annual Charity Golf Classic.

"On behalf of the entire team at Guard Support of Massachusetts, we are truly delighted to be chosen as this year’s tournament beneficiary," said Sherry Handel, executive director of Guard Support. "National Guard troop deployment has quadrupled in the last 12 months so the services we provide to Guard members and their families have increased dramatically. Danversbank’s donation will provide significant relief to Guard families throughout the state in the form of emergency financial assistance and non-repayable grants for bills, childcare and unexpected expenses that these families would otherwise be unable to pay."

The Danversbank Charity Golf Classic will be held on October 4th at Myopia Hunt Club in Hamilton. The tournament has donated $118,000 in its six years; previous years’ beneficiaries were Horizons for Homeless Children (2009), Animal Rescue League of Boston (2008), Children’s Friend & Family Services (2007), Operation Troop Support (2006), One Family, Inc. (2005), and Massachusetts Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) (2004).
