The Davis Cos. has purchased the 75,000-square-foot office building at 24 Farnsworth St. in Boston’s Fort Point neighborhood. Terms were not disclosed.
The six-story, formerly vacant brick-and-beam property is now close to 50 percent leased after Davis secured two leases totaling 37,000 square feet. One was with Barkan Management Co. Inc., a 31-year-old residential real estate management company affiliated with The Barkan Cos., the former owner. The other was for Catalina Marketing.
"When you walk around the neighborhood the streets are electrifying with new developments, companies and retail amenities emerging in every direction," Davis Cos. President Corey Griffin said in a statement. "We hope to be able to capitalize on this energy by making thoughtful and modern improvements to the project."
Davis has retained CB Richard Ellis as its leasing agent, represented by executive vice presidents Tim Lyne and Chris Cuddy, as well as Margulies Perruzzi Architects for renovations. The building includes 30 spaces of onsite parking.
