The recently completed restoration of a Siasconset home has been recognized by the Nantucket Preservation Trust.

The Fremont-Smith family is the 2011 recipient of the John A. and Katherine S. Lodge Stewardship Award for honoring their foresight for caring about Nantucket’s historic structures. The Nantucket Preservation Trust under their Preservation Award Program presents this award annually.

Design Assoc. Inc., a Cambridge and Nantucket architectural design firm, is proud to have been the architect for the Fremont-Smith family during the careful restoration and renovation of the Atlantic House in Siasconset on the island of Nantucket, according to a statement.

Originally constructed as a summer hotel in 1848, the Atlantic House was moved to an adjacent property and underwent a transformation to become a single-family residence in 1924. The current owners acquired the property from family members and worked with Design Assoc. to refine the interior spaces while also respecting the integrity of the original architecture, seamlessly integrating changes into the simple yet elegant Greek revival style of the home.
