Kevin SearsHenry DiGiacaomo and Kevin Sears have been appointed by Gov. Deval Patrick to the Board of Real Estate Brokers and Sales Persons.

Part of the state’s Division of Professional Licensure, the board regulates real estate schools and disciplines real estate agents who violate licensing laws and regulations.

DiGiacomo, CEO of the Cape Cod and Islands Association of Realtors, said he believed he was the first real estate association executive to be appointed to the board.

"It’s very humbling, but at the same time very exciting," said DiGiacomo, whose term will expire in 2015. "I’ve been licensed since I was 18; I eat, breathe and sleep real estate, and this is just such a pleasure."

Sears, a former president of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors, could not be reached for comment.

Three members of the five-person board are licensed real estate professionals; the other two are members of the public. Sears and DiGiacomo will replace Ann Blackham and L. Bradley Hutchinson. Susan Bennett White, Alfred Razzaboni and Stanly Zoll are the other current members.
