Bob Keeley, founder and president of Newton-based Diversified Project Management (DPM), was recently honored with the Corporate MileStones award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Keeley, whose mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1985, has been a trustee of the society’s Greater New England chapter since 2006. Under Keeley’s leadership, Diversified Project Management (DPM), has raised and donated more than $750,000 to help eradicate MS, according to a statement.
During his acceptance speech at the May 10 gala held in Boston, Keeley said his mother served as an inspiration after her initial diagnosis.
"At that time, MS was relatively unknown and frequently misunderstood, and it was difficult for her to have people ask how she could feel so bad when she looked perfectly fine," he said. "She never let MS define her and she continues to be an inspiration to our family."
Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between brain and body and can stop people from moving forward in their lives.
