ARAFTSomerville’s Assembly Row is adding three new tenants in August including an American Fresh Taproom by Somerville Brewing Co.

The newest section of the retail development, called SOMBLOX, opens Aug. 2 and will be located in four decommissioned shipping containers converted by Boxman Studios of Charlotte, N.C. The concept is designed to reflect Assembly Row’s history as the former site of a Ford factory and locomotive repair shop.

Founded in 2011 by the husband-and-wife team of Caitlin Jewell and Jeff Leiter, Somerville Brewing Co.  distributes a variety of craft brews in eight states including the award-winning Slumbrew Porter Square Porter. The taproom will pair Slumbrew beers with locally-sourced foods. The opening menu will include Fiore DiNonno and Great Hill Creamery cheeses, Olli and Creminelli meats, When Pigs Fly breads, Taza chocolate, Grillo’s pickles, soups, sandwiches, fresh caramel corn with bacon and Flutternutter desserts.

The 20-foot containers will be located at the corner of Grand Union Boulevard and Canal Street, across from Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH.

The remaining space will be occupied by retailers on a temporary basis, with the first tenants announced in late July.

Close to 20 outlet retailers have opened this year at Assembly Row, with an additional 15 scheduled to open this fall. Federal Realty Investment Trust of Maryland is the master developer of the $1.5-billion mixed-use project. The first phase includes 300,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, 100,000 square feet of office space and 450 apartments.
