East Cambridge Savings Bank has donated $10,000 to the city of Medford’s summer parks program. The bank’s charitable foundation has donated $5,000 to the Somerville Homeless Coalition in support of that organization’s annual fundraiser, Under the Roof.
The Summer Parks Program provides a range of activities for children at four parks: Barry, Harris, Morrison and Hickey. This is the second consecutive year the Bank has sponsored this program.
"We at East Cambridge Savings Bank, take great pride in supporting the Summer Parks Program," said Gilda Nogueira, president and chief operating officer of East Cambridge Savings Bank, in a statement.
Medford Mayor Michael McGylnn said in a statement, "It is with the Bank’s support that we are able to offer this much needed program."
The Somerville Homeless Coalition provides homeless and near homeless individuals and families with supportive services and tailored housing solutions based on their individual needs. All proceeds from the fund-raiser will benefit the organizations high-demand programs, including emergency shelters, homeless prevention and the Project Soup food program.
