Boston’s Eastern Bank recently awarded $600,000 to 41 local nonprofit organizations for community leadership, which received the honors at the bank’s seventh annual Community Quarterback award ceremony featuring former New England Patriot’s quarterback Doug Flutie.

EasternBankEach organization also received a grant of $10,000 or more from the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation. The organizations were also given the opportunity to participate in an educational workshop provided by ESC of New England in an effort to help each navigate through the challenging economic environment, according to a statement.

"Eastern Bank is committed to giving back to the communities where we our customers and employees live and work," said CEO Richard Holbrook. "We are fortunate today to honor such a diverse group of organizations that work hard to provide the basic needs of life for thousands of Massachusetts children and families."
