A $16 million, 59-unit housing development for the elderly recently broke ground in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood.
All of the units at Hearth at Olmsted Green will be available to extremely low-income seniors who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, according to a statement. Resident services, including meals, recreation, counseling and case management services will be provided.
"For 20 years, Hearth has been my partner, and the region’s leader in the fight to eliminate elder homelessness," said Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. "Hearth at Olmsted Green will stand as the best example of affordable, supportive and permanent housing for formerly homeless and at-risk seniors."
