Burlington-based Erland Construction Inc. will oversee the construction of a new 371-unit apartment complex in Malden, the Highlands at Overlook Ridge. The contract for construction management services is worth $51.2 million.
The new complex, on the site of the former Rowe Quarry, is being developed by Roseland Property Company. This project will mark the second time the same site – the first was Quarrystone at Overlook Ridge, a condominium development completed in 2007.
Highlands at Overlook Ridge will consist of four, 4-story wood-framed buildings with a mix of studio, one, and two bedroom units and is projected to be completed in 2014.
"We are very excited to be returning to Overlook Ridge in Malden, teaming with Roseland again, and adding more quality residential units to this great development," Erland Vice President and Residential Group Manager, Jeff Ellowitz said in a statement. "This project will be a great addition to the quarry, and help meet the strong demand for rental housing in the area.
Lessard Design of Vienna, Va. is the architect for the project.
