The Everett Chamber of Commerce has unanimously supported the proposed $1.2 billion Wynn Resort to be built on the site of the former Monsanto Plant along the Mystic River.
The vote by the Chamber’s officers and board comes before a scheduled June 22 citywide vote to approve the agreement between the city and Wynn Resorts. It also follows endorsement by 50 key businesses and support from individual members and groups in the community.
Pending voter approval on June 22, Everett would become the first city in the state to have a signed and sealed host agreement as mandated by enabling legislation that opened the doors to three resort casinos in Massachusetts. The five-member state gaming commission has said it would render a final decision on winning proposals by early next year.
