John D. FinneganJohn D. Finnegan has been appointed to the board of directors of the Massachusetts Credit Union Share Insurance Corp. (MSIC). 

As a director, Finnegan will assist in setting the general direction and control of the affairs of the corporation, including guiding the organzation to fulfill its purpose, setting the policies of the corporation and ensuring that those policies are properly implemented in accordance with MSIC’s enabling statute and corporate by-laws, according to a statement.

Finnegan, a member of Boston law firm Tarlow, Breed, Hart & Rodgers P.C.’s litigation group, concentrates his practice in the areas of creditors’ rights in bankruptcy, business litigation, tax lien foreclosures, construction litigation and real estate litigation. He represents banking and financial services companies, as well as individuals, and serves as special counsel to a number of municipalities in Massachusetts. He also routinely advises businesses in a number of areas, including contract disputes, bankruptcy proceedings, workouts, discrimination actions and bid protests.

MSIC provides excess deposit insurance to credit unions throughout Massachusetts. Presently, MSIC currently insures almost a billion dollars of credit union members’ deposits for 76 state-chartered and 22 federally chartered credit unions in Massachusetts.
