Boston-based First Trade Union Bank has appointed James (Jim) Malerba as executive vice president chief financial officer.

Malerba will work out of First Trade’s headquarters at One Harbor St. in Boston. He will be responsible for managing all financial operations for the bank. 

Malerba has more than 37 years of experience in financial services and public accounting roles.  He most recently was executive vice president, chief accounting officer and corporate controller at State Street Corp., where he was responsible for the corporate accounting, regulatory reporting and financial systems and accounting operations functions.  Malerba has also held roles at FleetBoston Financial in Providence, R.I. and KeyBank/KeyCorp in Cleveland, Ohio.

Malerba is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and currently serves on the board of trustees for Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center in Boston and the LaSalle School for Boys in Albany, N.Y.
