A group of local youth has been assembled by Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino to maintain foreclosed properties the city has acquired in Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan.

The group is made up of youth between the ages of 18 and 24 that have been selected from either a G.E.D. program at Dorchester Youth Collaborative or from Catholic Charities’ Teen Center at St. Peters Parish, according to a statement.

The goal of the "Mayor’s Clean Team" is to become active and responsible citizens in their neighborhood by helping with trash collection, landscaping, and minor exterior repairs to the foreclose properties, the city said.
