Former "This Old House" host Steve Thomas, will help Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity and six local home building companies raise walls on two homes on Market Street in Lawrence during the Home Builders Blitz 2012.
The event is scheduled for the first week of June. Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity is one of five national Habitat affiliates chosen for an appearance by Thomas during this year’s Home Builders Blitz week.
"To have Steve Thomas support our efforts and join our team to build two homes on Market Street in Lawrence is tremendous. Building two homes in one week is aggressive. With the support and generosity of so many people, including Steve Thomas, we are looking forward to a great week in June giving hope and a home to two local families and improving a Lawrence neighborhood," said Steve Howell, Merrimack Valley Habitat Board Member and Chairman of the Home Builders Blitz 2012.
The six building companies participating in the blitz include Howell Custom Building Group (Lawrence); Meadowview Construction (Georgetown); Cote & Foster Construction (Methuen); Premier Builders (Georgetown); JSR Adaptive Energy Solutions; and Correct Temp, Inc (Methuen).
The projected out of pocket cost of the projects is about $230,000 and 15,000 hours of donated labor.
Nationally, The Builders Blitz will build and/or renovate more than 200 homes in one week.
