Trico USA has purchased a 60,000-square-foot industrial building, formerly owned by the Greater Boston Food Bank, in South Boston’s Newmarket Square.

The building at 99 Atkinson St. was purchased for $3.75 million, according to a statement.

Mark Stevens, principal of The Stevens Group, represented Trico in the acquisition. The food bank was represented by Steve Murphy of CB Richard Ellis.

The new property is adjacent to Trico’s existing 70,000-square-foot building at 120 Southampton St. Trico, which has been in the Newmarket location for 10 years, will be consolidating two other operations into the Atkinson Street building, according to a statement.

A division of Trico USA, Food Pak Express, which imports, manufactures and sells food products, will occupy the building when renovations are complete, Trico’s President Gary Wong said.
