Richard J. Kos, attorney and former mayor of Chicopee, has been named chairman of the board of Hampden Bancorp Inc. and its subsidiary bank, Hampden Bank.
Kos has been a holding company director since 2007 and a director of the bank since 2005. He takes over for former chairman Stu Young, who resigned in March.
Kos is partner at the law firm Egan, Flanagan & Cohen PC. He was mayor of Chicopee from 1997 to 2004. In addition to the bank and holding company boards, Kos currently serves as a trustee of Our Lady of the Elms College, chairman of the Chicopee Chamber of Commerce, a member of the board of incorporators of the Mason Wright Foundation of Springfield and a member of the Board of Directors of the Regional Employment Board in Springfield.
He has previously been a director with the Pioneer Valley Red Cross, the Polish National Credit Union, Providence Place, the Economic Development Council, and the Westover Metropolitan Development Corp.
He has also served as an incorporator of Chicopee Savings Bank.
