Peter R. Pendergast has been hired as a partner at Prince Lobel Glovsky & Tye to work in the firm’s litigation practice group.

Pendergast will focus on representing individual and institutional investors in claims to recover damages for fraud, misrepresentation and unsuitable investments in connection with the sale of securities and derivatives, and for misconduct by investment fiduciaries.

He will also represent securities industry professionals in regulatory enforcement matters (SEC, FINRA and state securities division) and employment and compensation matters in securities arbitration, according to a statement.

Pendergast served as general counsel of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority and represented the authority in the SEC municipal securities investigation arising out of allegations of failure to disclose material information about cost overruns at the Big Dig.

Previously, Pendergast was counsel and public finance investment banker at Kidder Peabody & Co. and worked with the law firms of Mintz Levin in Boston and Alston & Bird in Atlanta doing business, securities, investment fiduciary and antitrust litigation and securities arbitration.

A Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Pendergast earned his law degree from Duke University Law School.
