Former New England Patriot Gino "Duke" Cappelletti will speak at The Boys & Girls Club of Taunton’s annual dinner, sponsored by Mechanics Cooperative Bank.
Cappelletti, who currently broadcasts for WBZ-FM’s Patriots Rock Radio, will discuss his time as a New England Patriot and how that experience helped drive his lifelong success, according to a statement.
The 107th annual dinner will be held Nov. 12 at the Holiday Inn in Taunton.
"We are so proud to have Gino be the guest speaker for our annual dinner. This event will be one to remember and a great opportunity to learn more about the Boys & Girls Club of Taunton," said event Chair Maureen Cody.
Over his 11 seasons with the Patriots, Cappelletti played primarily as a kicker and wide receiver, although he also played as a defensive back and kick returner. One of the three players to appear in every game during the American Football League’s ten-year history, Cappelletti led the league in scoring five times. He was honored on five All-Star teams and seven All-Pro teams. He remained the Patriots’ career scoring leader with 1,130 points until Adam Vinatieri passed him in the 2005 season.
"The quality youth programs provided by the Club are making our community much better place to live and work. We are a proud partner and supporter of their continued efforts," said Joseph T. Baptista, Jr., president and CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank.
The event will begin with social hour at 6 p.m. and a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m., before Cappelletti’s remarks at 7:30 p.m. The Taunton Boys & Girls Club is accepting reservations through Friday, Nov. 6, and must be made in advance.
