Former Pawtucket, R.I. Mayor James E. Doyle Former Pawtucket, R.I. Mayor James E. Doyle has been appointed vice president business development officer at Taunton-based Bristol County Savings Bank’s (BCSB) Pawtucket banking office.

Doyle served 13 years as mayor and spent a total of 40 years in public service, according to a statement. He ended his sixth term as mayor on Monday.

Doyle has served as a board member of Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation (BCSCF) – Pawtucket Advisory Board (PAB) since 2001 and as a corporator since 2002.

"We’re honored to have former Pawtucket Mayor Jim Doyle join Bristol County Savings and, specifically, our Rhode Island banking team," said Dennis Kelly Jr., president and CEO of BCSB. "We’re confident he will be a perfect fit for our community banking approach and his experience in government and in business will prove to be invaluable."

Before serving as mayor, Doyle served on the Pawtucket City Council for 27 years, including council president from 1982-1987, according to a statement. He was also a sales representative for Massachusetts Envelope Co. and several other pharmaceutical companies.

"I’m excited the bank has given me this opportunity to continue to serve the community that’s been such a huge part of my life’s work," said Doyle. "As mayor, and in my role as a member of the foundation’s Pawtucket Advisory Board, I’ve always been impressed with Bristol County Savings Bank and how it conducts its business. They are truly a community bank and have the local interest at heart."
