Christopher Smith, former COO of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), has joined Watertown-based green building consultancy The Cadmus Group Inc., based in the company’s Arlington, Va., office.

The USGBC oversees and administers LEED certification efforts for environmentally sensitive developments and buildings. During his five years as COO at the USGBC, Smith’s responsibilities encompassed much of the organization’s operation, including at various times LEED certification, credentialing, membership, education, finance, human resources and technology. Under his tenure, USGBC quintupled in revenue and staff, and LEED became a global brand.
