A neighborhood branding campaign two years in the making launched this week with the installation of 20 banners in Boston’s Fort Point.

Spearheaded by the Friends of Fort Point Channel, the project will expand to include backlit beacons on three entry points to the neighborhood following a fundraising campaign.

Stoltze Design, a graphic arts and design firm headquartered on Channel Center Street, designed the logos that contain slogans playing off the “Point” theme.

The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority donated $10,000 in seed money. The Friends are hoping to raise $100,000 for future phases of the project, including backlit metal beacons on Congress Street, Summer Street and A Street at the entrances to the neighborhood.

The organization also is meeting with neighborhood businesses on plans for Fort Point-themed dock awnings along the channel in areas such as Atlantic Wharf and the Gillette Pier.

“The idea is wherever you come into Fort Point you’ll know you’re there, including by water,” said Rachel Borgatti, executive director of the organization.
