An affiliate of Cambridge-based developer Carpenter & Co. has paid $65.6 million to acquire the Back Bay parcel where a 60-story Four Seasons hotel and condo tower is planned.
Master developer Carpenter & Co. obtained Boston Redevelopment Authority approvals in September 2013 for a mixed-use development, including a four-star hotel, condos, retail shops, restaurants and apartments in a redevelopment between Christian Science Plaza and Prudential Center.
In April, CEO Richard Friedman said he was close to obtaining financing for the project and hoped to break ground by year’s end on the $700 million hotel and condo tower at 1-7 Dalton St. The project would become Boston’s tallest residential building, with 225 hotel rooms and 186 condos. The transaction closed on Monday.
The 211-room Four Seasons Hotel will occupy the lower 20 floors of the tower, with the Four Seasons-branded condos occupying the upper levels. The complex also will include a pair of restaurants, two lounges and a health club and spa.
Pritzker Realty Group of Chicago is developing another phase of the project, a 26-story luxury apartment building.
