The developer proposing a $200 million casino in Millbury has selected a site and released a rendering of its potential slots parlor.

Last night, Mass Gaming & Entertainment (MGE), an affiliate of Chicago’s Rush Street Gaming, unveiled plans and renderings for its proposed casino during a presentation to the Millbury Planning Board.

The proposed casino would sit on a large parcel, part of which is a former industrial site, on McCracken Road directly across from the Shoppes at Blackstone Valley, with direct on and off access to Route 146. The proposal comes after discussions between MGE and Worcester officials for a casino there fell apart.

The casino would include a building between 100,000 and 115,000 square feet housing 1,250 slot machines, along with multiple food and beverage venues like a full service restaurant, a bar and grill and a casino bar. There would also be a space for live music and a day spa under the proposal.

"We have done our homework and Millbury is the best location for a Category [Two] casino," Neil Bluhm, MGE’s chairman, said in a statement. "We are committed to working intensively over the next few months to share information and plans with town residents and respond to their questions or concerns. And we hope that will be the beginning of a long term presence in Millbury."

The company expects approximately 400 permanent casino jobs and hundreds of constructions jobs as a result of the project, which is anticipated to be LEED Gold Certified.
