The Greater Boston Association of Realtors (GBAR) has installed its 2012 slate of officers and directors.
They are:
– President: William Dermody, a broker and manager at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Needham
– President Elect: Susan McDonough, a broker and manager at William Raveis Real Estate in Wellesley
– Vice President: Daphna Fields, a regional vice president for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Waltham
– Treasurer: Rob Harrington, broker/owner of Nexum Group in Framingham
Dermody, a 17-year industry veteran, is also on the board of directors for the Massachusetts (MAR) and National Association of Realtors (NAR) as well as Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB). He also serves as a liaison between GBAR and state legislators.
"I’m looking forward to it. [GBREB] is kind of unique; most other real estate boards are almost exclusively residential, but with our board, where it does have these other divisions that we get to work with and have some events with as well, like the commercial brokers and the building owners and managers association," said Dermody. "I think it’s going to be a good year."
McDonough, a 32-year industry veteran, will be responsible for keeping GBAR’s membership informed on public policy issues, financial matters and organizational activities conducted by the association, and will succeed to the office of president in 2013. In recent years, she has served as chair of the GBAR programming committee.
Fields, who had been treasurer in 2011, said she was happy to accept the role of vice president this year. "We’re very excited about the coming year, at my own organization, and I think along with the challenges the real estate market will bring us some strong opportunities," she said.
