Another prime development site is coming up for grabs in the Seaport District as Gillette Corp. offers up a 2.5-acre parcel bordering Fort Point Channel.

The razor manufacturer notified employees Tuesday of its plans to hire a commercial broker to market the latest slice of its 34-acre campus, after selling an adjacent 6.5-acre property last year to developer Related Beal for $218 million.

The narrow rectangular parcel is bounded by Binford Street and A Street at the northwest corner of the Gillette campus. Boston officials are in the planning phase for construction of an approximately 6-foot-tall berm along the east side of the channel to protect nearby properties from projected rising sea levels.

Gillette spokeswoman Kara Buckley said the latest potential disposition is separate from the company’s ongoing study of its real estate needs in South Boston and Andover. The Procter & Gamble subsidiary is simultaneously seeking state approval to consolidate more than 30 waterways licenses governing uses on the South Boston property, and remove some parcels from jurisdiction under Chapter 91, the Massachusetts Public Waterfront Act.

Related Beal and a partnership of National Development and Alexandria Real Estate Equities are simultaneously pursuing approvals for a pair of commercial developments just north of the Gillette site.

Related Beal proposes a three-building, 1.1 million-square-foot project including office-lab space and housing at 244-284 A St.

And National Development and Alexandria have proposed a 316,000-square-foot office-lab building at 15 Necco St., the former planned site of a new General Electric headquarters building.
