The Boston Globe is seeking approximately 150,000 square feet of office space in Boston with the intention of leaving its longtime Morrissey Boulevard headquarters by mid-2017, CEO Michael Sheehan said.
Sheehan confirmed Wednesday that the Globe has hired Colliers International as its broker to find potential spaces in Boston for its newsroom and business offices. Sheehan said the newspaper has not focused on any specific neighborhoods within the city.
“Having done a corporate relocation before, we ended up somewhere that I didn’t expect,” he said, referring to his previous position as CEO of ad agency Hill Holliday and its move from the Hancock Tower to 53 State St. in 2008.
The Globe hired Colliers in April to market its 16.5-acre Morrissey Boulevard property that it has occupied since 1958. Sheehan said the newspaper has not finalized its plans for relocating its printing operations.
