Newton-based Government Properties Income Trust reported $10.9 million net income for the second quarter ended June 30, an increase of nearly 30 percent compared to the $7.7 million reported during the same time last year.

Normalized funds from operations (FFO) were $21 million for the second quarter, a significant increase compared to $14.2 million for the same quarter last year.

For the six months ended June 30, Government Properties Income Trust reported $21.2 million net income, an increase compared to $14.6 million reported during the first six months of 2010.

Normalized FFO for the first six months of 2011 were $40.5 million, an increase compared to $26.7 million for the same period last year.
