GZ Geo Environmental Inc., a geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting and remediation services firm, is relocating its corporate headquarters to 249 Vanderbilt Ave. in Norwood.

The company is leasing 50,000 square feet from CMI Property Inc.

 Work to build out the office space at Vanderbilt Avenue will begin immediately. The company will take full occupancy of the property in the spring of 2013. Until that time, it will remain at its current One Edgewater Drive location in Norwood,

GZ Geo Environmental was represented in the negotiation by John E. Butterworth, executive vice president/principal of CBRE New England. The environmental company employs more than 550 engineers, scientists and technical support staff in 25 offices in the United States.

Kenneth Johnston, senior vice president risk management and real estate and principal at GZ Geo Environmental, said in a statement: "249 Vanderbilt Ave. is the perfect building and location for our new headquarters and will serve as a hub for our nationwide network."

The Elliot & Co. LLC. – team of Elliot Ravech, Dennis Nolfi and Max Ravech represented CMI Property Inc. in the transaction. GZ Geo Environmental signed a long-term lease to occupy 48,238 square feet of executive office space on the entire second floor and part of the first floor of 249 Vanderbilt Ave. The company will additionally lease 2,500-5,000 square feet of space for equipment at another CMI-managed property within the park, bringing the total lease to more than 50,000 square feet.
