In its first year, more than 1,600 people have participated in Brockton-based HarborOne Credit Union’s educational program, HarborOne U, which offers personal finance classes, small business programs and lifestyle seminars.
HarborOne U put on 90 classes and events that were available to local residents and businesses free of charge, according to a statement. Topics for classes and events included:
- First-time homebuyer seminars
- Social media development for small businesses
- QuickBooks tutorials
- Social Security and Medicare benefits
- Time management and organizational skills
"HarborOne U is about more than just financial education," said Maureen Wilkinson, director of HarborOne U. "We know that people in our community are looking for opportunities to accelerate their personal and professional growth. We are thrilled to be providing such a valuable and well-received service to both business and residents and look forward to offering our second year curriculum."
