HarborOne Credit Union of Brockton was named an outstanding organization by The National Credit Union Foundation in Washington, D.C.

HarborOne received the Herb Wegner Award for its MultiCultural Banking Center in downtown Brockton, which opened in 2007.

The center provides education and other resources to help those most adversely affected by the activities of subprime mortgage brokers and other financial predators, specifically low- and moderate-income residents, minorities and immigrants.

"We had no idea how much this program would change the lives of the students attending classes. For many of them it was the first time they had received public recognition for their accomplishments," said James W. Blake, president and CEO of HarborOne.
