Mark C. (Trip) Hargrave III has been appointed managing director at Boston-based wealth management firm Emerson Investment Management Inc.

In his new position, Hargrave will provide investment strategy and advisory services for Emerson clients including individuals, families and institutional investors, according to a statement. He will also take on a leadership role with the firm’s executive committee and participate as a member of Emerson’s investment strategy committee.

Before joining Emerson, Hargrave was a senior vice president at Boston Private Bank & Trust Co. Hargrave has 32 years of financial services and investment management experience.
