Holyoke Credit Union has been named top producer of first mortgages in Hampshire County under the MassHousing Lending Program for 2009.

Mike Murphy, president of Holyoke Credit Union, said there is even a greater reward than the acknowledgment from MassHousing.

"What is even more gratifying and humbling is knowing how many families we put into new homes in the last year," he said. "Despite the national economy and the difficulties right here in Hampshire County and Hampden County, we helped hardworking individuals and families realize the dream of home ownership. In doing so, we also assisted the local economy – home ownership enriches our communities and creates more demand for goods and services."

Holyoke Credit Union (HCU) is a state-chartered credit union headquartered in Holyoke. The credit union was founded in 1911 and currently has close to $132 million in assets and serves more than 14,000 members.
