What: Neponset Wharf
Where: 24 Ericsson St., Dorchester
Owner: Rise Together and City Point Capital
A former Dorchester boat dealership property that’s been closed off to the public for five years will be redeveloped into a $90 million, 168,300-square-foot mixed-use development in a project approved this month by the Boston Planning & Development Agency.
Developers RISE Together and City Point Capital plan to build 120 housing units, office and community space, retail shops, a boathouse and marina with 75 boat storage docks at the tip of the Port Norfolk peninsula on the Neponset River.
The 4-acre property will create 2.2 acres of new open space including a pier and an extension of the Boston Harborwalk. Prior to issuance of a certificate of occupancy, developers agreed to elevate the access road and intersection of Ericsson and Port Norfolk streets to protect the site from projected rising sea levels. The project is subject to final approval from the Boston Zoning Board of Appeal.
They Said It:
“We at RISE Together are quickly outgrowing our space [at 12 Ericcson St.] and our intention is to use this new office space to continue growing within the community, and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to move into this new space and stay in Dorchester.”
