The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded Massachusetts housing authorities more than $3.7 million in grants to help residents of public and assisted housing find jobs and services.
The grants will also help the elderly and disabled to remain in independent living situations and allows for the hiring of "service coordinators or case workers to work with HUD-assisted families.
The grants, mostly in amounts of about $69,000 and up to $480,000 over three separate programs, were awarded to housing authorities across the state, including Boston, Brockton, Lowell, Worcester, Holyoke and others.
