The downtown Boston, LEED-certified headquarters of BostonCoach, a Fidelity Investments subsidiary, recently served as a case study in energy efficiency for commercial real estate professionals.
Hosted by corporate real estate association CoreNet Global, the event featured a tour of the LEED silver-certified building and also a panel discussion featuring representatives from BostonCoach, architects ADD Inc., construction manager Elaine Construction and engineers RDK.
The team was responsible for creating a highly functional, sustainable corporate headquarters within a century old warehouse at 70 Fargo St. in Boston’s Seaport District. BostonCoach’s green building earned t a 2008 Best New Workplace Award from CoreNet Global.
The building features an underfloor air distribution system, furniture made from recycled materials, a 30 percent reduction in energy usage and an annual saving of 126,000 gallons of water. Approximately 90 percent of all construction waste was recycled, keeping pollutants out of local landfills, according to BostonCoach.
