Newton-based Hudson Capital Partners has appointed David Peress to the newly created post of Chief Investment Officer.

Peress will manage the firm’s investment portfolio as it continues to expand and take on additional transactions, the company said.

Peress, 48, brings "extensive expertise" in consumer products, company-related special situation investments, corporate restructuring and asset-based lending. He was most recently a managing director at Crystal Capital Fund Management.

Peress is a member of the Delaware Bar, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Turnaround Management Association. He is a member of the board of directors of Seamiles Inc. Peress is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Law, and currently resides in Needham with his family.
