Industrial Credit Union (ICU) announced the winners of its 20th annual College Scholarship Program, named for John J. Campana, who served as ICU treasurer for more than 50 years.
Mike Eruzione, captain of the 1980 Olympic gold-medal winning "Miracle on Ice" USA Hockey team, drew the winners’ names at his Boston University office.
Ten winners were each awarded $1,000 scholarships that can be used for college tuition, books or fees. Applications for the upcoming year 2014 scholarship program will be released this summer.
"ICU is grateful to once again offer these scholarships. When we have an opportunity to give something back to the community we serve, we’re all better off," ICU President Roy Campana said in a statement. "Now in our 103rd year, we are proud to have Mike Eruzione participate. By lending his very high-profile name to the scholarship program, hopefully more and more students will be encouraged to seek out this opportunity and help mitigate the growing costs of higher education."
