The Boston chapter of the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA), a facility management nonprofit, recently announced winners of its 2009 Awards of Excellence.

The President’s Award went to Sean Murphy of Liberty Mutual. It is presented to a chapter member for his or her leadership and example to the industry as a whole.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Sheila Sheridan for her recognition of consistent achievement and service over the course of her career.

The Exemplary Service Provider Award went to John Fortin of Bond Bros. It is presented to the representative of an associate member company in recognition of voluntary contributions to IFMA Boston.

John Shenette of Smith College received the Distinguished End User award as a professional member of the Boston Chapter who has provided sustained, outstanding leadership to the chapter.

The Education & Professional Development Award went to Mark Nelson. The award is presented to a Boston Chapter IFMA member demonstrating exceptional support of professional development in their organization and/or facility management community.

The Facilities Management Achievement Awards for Best Practices are presented to the individual or team whose facility management program, project, system, innovation, or idea has had a substantial, positive effect on the success of their organization. Sasaki was recognized for its sustainability practices; Leggat McCall Properties was recognized in this field in the less than 50,000 square feet category; and IFAW was selected for an award for the large project, greater than 50,000 square feet category.
