The Innovation District: Welcome Home Challenge initiative has been launched to help existing businesses and new start-ups relocate to or expand in Boston’s Innovation District.
Business can apply to receive a $25,000 grant from Spencer Trask Collaborative Innovations (STCI) to relocate to or expand in the Innovation District, according to a statement.
"On the South Boston Waterfront, we are creating a hub of knowledge, creativity and inspiration – an Innovation District where new ideas, new businesses and more jobs will come to life," said Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino. "The Welcome Home Challenge with STCI will add to our momentum, helping support a company to create jobs in Boston now and well into the future."
Pitches can be submitted on the web portal (www.vencorps.com), and the public can vote and comment on the pitches, according to a statement. The portal will be open for submissions starting on Oct. 15 and will close on Jan. 14. Nine finalists will be selected and one winner will be chosen on April 15.
